He Will Bite Your Fingers, 2009. Acrylics and collaged comic strips from the newspaper. I made this painting with my uncle in mind. When I was a little girl, like many young girls, I loved playing with nail polish and make up. But I had this one uncle who was pretty strict and didn’t like me wearing nail polish. Whenever he saw me with painted nails he would always say “I’m gonna bite your fingers”. So naturally when he and his family would visit, I would run and hide in my closet- polished finger nails and all! Yeah that was pretty frightening as a child. Now we laugh about it and sometimes he still says he’ll bite my fingers when I wear nail polish…and in that case I still go hide in my closet! Haha true story, but not really. I ain’t scared of no one…yo!
